What does "Be Primal" mean?

Have you ever read 'The Primal Blueprint'?
If not, you can find it here.

Have you ever heard the author, Mark Sisson, of the above book discuss the Primal lifestyle?
If not, you can listen to it below.
{I highly recommend it!}

Have you ever read about the Paleo diet?
If not, you can read about it here.

But, if you don't have time for all this reading and listening {which, again, I highly recommend the studying}... I'll sum it up for you.

To "Be Primal" or, similarly, be Paleo includes:

-eating vegetables, meat, fish, fowl, eggs with some healthy fats, fruit, nuts/seeds, tubers, herbs, extracts
-being active throughout the day at a slow pace {ie. walking}
-lifting heaving things/weights
-sprinting occasionally
-sleeping for an adequate amount of time each night
-playing often
-exposing your skin to the sun

Sweet Potato Chips

I LOVE sweet potatoes.
They are primal and so delicious.
I could eat them every day for every meal if my husband let me.
You can make them sweet or a little savory depending on your mood!

One of my favorite snacks are sweet potato chips.
They are super simple and super tasty!
In fact, I just had some this afternoon.

You will need:

1-2 sweet potatoes
olive oil
sea salt

Directions:

Turn your oven to 425 degrees
Place tin foil over a baking sheet
Wash off 1-2 sweet potatoes and dry
Slice the width of the potatoes into about 1/4" thick pieces
Spread out onto baking sheet {do not overlap}
Drizzle olive oil on sweet potatoes and sprinkle sea salt
Mix together using your hands {I usually rub each side of the sweet potato ensuring it gets an even amount of olive oil and sea salt}
Place baking sheet in oven and cook for 8-10 min
Flip sweet potatoes with tongs or spatula and cook for another 8-10 min
Let cool and then eat!

*These chips will come out crispy on the edges and soft in the middle. If you'd like your chips more firm/crispy, leave in oven for a couple minutes longer on each side.

Purpose

I am a Registered Nurse, so that sums up my goal in life: to help others achieve health.
That is also the sole purpose of this blog.

I have learned about, applied and benefitted from living and eating Primally {or Paleo!}.

My results have been drastic and I am eager to spread this wealth of knowledge.
I have taught friends, family, church members, coworkers and even strangers about this lifestyle.
Many of these people have also seen wonderfully drastic results and continue to live Primally today.

To sum up the Primal lifestyle, we are simply {yes, simply} turning your carbohydrate or sugar burning body into a fat burning body.
Just like a computer, we are 'programing' your body to prevent, stop, and reverse diseases and  minor health problems which effect daily lives.

Stay tuned for my story...
